Incredible few days in the diverse agricultural state of Pubjab, India, as part of the Nuffield Australia Global Focus Program.
We've covered wool processing, potatoes, peppermint, capsicum, melons, turf, dairy cows, buffalo and goats, honey, seed production, apples, rice, and nursery production. We were welcomed to Biocarve Seeds with beautiful Marigold Garlands.

The next stop on the Nuffield Australia Global Focus Program was southern India around Madurai.
It has been amazing to explore their hyper-local food system from farm to market, immerse in their culture, meet the most beautiful people, and dine on delicious, fragrant food. Singapore imports over 90% of their food from other countries right around the world. The city-state has identified a plan to increase their own food production to 30% by 2030.
It's been super interesting to explore their agri-food sector over the last few days as part of the Nuffield Australia Global Focus Program. It's World Bee Day and there's a real buzz about the role bees and other pollinators (and beekeepers) have in producing our food!
Home. Where there's paddocks of green, lush lucerne (alfalfa).
Smells even better in the bale! Next stop: Primary Industries Education Foundation of Australia (PIEFA) Conference, Canberra Yesterday's Nuffield International Triennial Conference and tours hosted by Nuffield New Zealand took in a visit to Wilkins Farming and Mt Nicholas Station.
With the most incredible views, Mt Nicholas Station is a 36,000ha Merino wool operation on the banks of Lake Wakatipu. The most amazing day! Taking in the views of Lake Tepako, New Zealand.
We've been enjoying the Nuffield International Triennial Conference and tours hosted by Nuffield New Zealand. From deers to dairy, beef and lamb, to merino wool! This evening wraps up the week-long Nuffield Contemporary Scholars Conference (CSC) hosted by Nuffield Canada with Scholars from 15 countries in Vancouver, Canada.
It's been an incredible and intense week with presentations, networking, tours and lots of learning! We'll share more on key takeaways and learnings in Nuffield blog posts in coming months. Yesterday we were out and about with a tour of Ocean Spray's Richmond Receival Site, the G3 Terminal, and OceanWise, before taking in a harbour cruise. Thank you to Nuffield Canada for coordinating this incredible week. And to Nuffield Australia and AgriFutures Australia for investing in my Nuffield journey. Yesterday we checked out the University of British Columbia (UBC) Farm, after a three day tour of Vancouver Island with fellow Nuffield Australia Scholars.
The Nuffield Contemporary Scholars Conference (CSC) has now kicked off hosted by Nuffield Canada with 84 Scholars plus Delegates attending from 15 countries. |
