Visiting Fairs

31/7/2023

We've been wrapping up our time in the USA by visiting some summer agriculture fairs (shows)!

We've just spent three days exploring Indiana State Fair and learning about their year-round ag education programs. And along with ferris wheels and carousels, we did spot some LEGO on the fairgrounds too!

Whilst in New York City, we had to check out the LEGO store on 5th Avenue and try the Minifigure Factory.

Spotted in our new shirt at Times Square.

The sheep meadow at Central Park, New York, is unlike any paddock we've visited. Look at that view!

And on the other side of the world, we were honoured to be announced as Charles Sturt University 2023 Young Alumni winner as part of Foundation Day celebrations. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees!

We didn't pack our Charles Sturt University shirt or we'd be wearing it for Foundation Day!

Gwynn Valley Summer Camp

We've spent the last 10 days at Gwynn Valley Camp; a summer camp in North Carolina!

Whilst we were there we helped out with their farm program offering fun and learning for the campers with cute animals and lots of vegetables.

We welcomed 13 new piglets.
And picked lots of fresh sweet corn for farm-to-table dining.

Walt Disney World

While in Florida we took the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World Epcot!

Epcot is dedicated to innovation and experimentation including showcasing indoor agricultural production systems used to produce some food for the parks and restaurants.

Behind Mickey is the "Mickey Pepper"; the oldest plant in all the greenhouses in the park at 21 years old.

Like capsicums, peppercorns are different colours (black, red and white) based on how long they're ripened.
