The 2018 Art4Agriculture Archibull Prize was held today with schools coming together to showcase the work they completed this year in the competition.
A special congratulations to Calvary Christian College Carbrook Senior Campus who received the 2018 Archibull Reserve Grand Champion for their Archibull, Le-EGG-O, focused on the egg industry - and using LEGO! Be sure to read their blog to learn more about the project and see photos of their decorated life-size cow. Today we also announced the winners of the National AgDay Careers Competition. Congratulations to Tom Ramsey, Hamish MacClure and Joshua Carpenter. Thank you to everyone who participated in the competition! We loved seeing the entries come in, were inspired by your LEGO photos, and enjoyed reading through the 'Day in the Life' you imagined in your future career in agriculture. We look forward to next year's entries!

Each year students from Moruya High School embark on a camping trip as part of their Agricultural and Earth & Environment studies to explore the Murray Darling Basin first hand. We help facilitate the first two full days of their trip. This is their fourth year visiting.
We look at irrigation from dam to on-farm with the students staying at Hume Dam before meeting us at Yarrawonga Weir. We visit a local dairy farm, lucerne farm, and piggery. This year we lined up a visit with research scientists from the National Oat Breeding Program. And each year students take part in a Kingfisher Cruise through the Barmah Choke. It's a great couple of days - and a highlight of our year! We made our first LEGO stop motion video as part of our application to the evokeAG Future Young Leaders program. And now we need your help!
EvokeAG is an upcoming conference being held in Melbourne next year to showcase the very best in agriculture, technology and innovation across 'Food, Farm and Future'. We've applied for the Future Young Leaders program because we are passionate about Australian agriculture, and because we know that in order for Australian agriculture to continue to grow, we need to be attracting the very best to join our industry. We want to take the learnings from the conference and apply them to our work in schools, our careers competitions, and our outreach work. I've made it through to the People's Choice round of the Future Young Leaders program and I need your vote. Head across to our video on evokeAG's Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram and give it a 'like'. The top two winners will win a trip to evokeAG next year. All voting must be likes only and must be on the original post. Voting closes at 9am AEDT Monday 12 November. And while you are there - check out the other four amazing entries!! And you'll see why I'm so excited to be working in our great industry! And for anyone not on social media, but wanting to check out our video, here's a link: https://twitter.com/i/status/1059197401054015488 |
