We've made it back to NSW!
Shoutout to Big Banana providing a great photo opportunity, and even a #thelegofarmer prop stand! Today we've been learning all about Australia's very own macadamias at Macadamias Australia in Bundaberg!
These ones are a while off harvest, but when they are ready they will then be dehusked, dried, and then cracked, leaving the delicious macadamia. Despite being a softer nut to eat, macadamias are the hardest nut to crack! Ever noticed that sometimes you buy a pineapple without a top (crown), and other times it has one? That's because pineapple growers use the crowns to plant their next crop!
Farm fresh pineapple courtesy of Pure Gold Pineappples and the Yeppoon Lions Tropical Pinefest yesterday. And no, pineapples don't grow on the beach! Today we pause and honour a life of dedication and service, and a love of animals, farming and agricultural shows.
Last night in Tamworth our Creator Aimee Snowden was announced as a 2023 Nuffield Australia scholar.
Aimee will build on the research of previous Australian and international scholars looking at ag education and engagement models around the world driving immersive experiences. She is sponsored by AgriFutures Australia. We look forward to sharing this journey with you. |
